Tango
This trip offers you the perfect combination of tango and our ‘Bailando – Discovery Programme’. There’s also plenty to discover
in the tango classes: subtle and elegant embellishments for him and her!
Lessons take place in the morning or afternoon, timed to fit in with our Discovery Programme. In the evenings, atmospheric milongas await you in our beautiful hotel.
We look forward to experiencing the magic of tango with you in this special setting!
There are two course groups with a maximum of 10 couples per group.
Patricia and Matteo will be responsible for assigning you to a group.

Dancing experience
This course is aimed at experienced dancers.
You have been dancing regularly for many years and are confident in both the parallel and crossed systems. Turns with a stable axis, pivots and ochos come naturally to you, and moving fluidly and mindfully within the ronda is part of your routine.

Your Tango Hotel is situated just outside the gates of the picturesque old town.
Famous for its centuries-old cave dwellings and churches carved into the rock, Matera is steeped in history and exudes that southern Italian zest for life.
Alvino Relais Hotel
The former mill has been lovingly converted into a modern and exceptional hotel: glass and marble, bright rooms and spacious areas create a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere where you can feel right at home. In the light-filled bar, a fine breakfast buffet with sweet and savoury dishes awaits you in the morning. In the afternoon and early evening, you can round off the day here with a refreshing aperitif before we kick off the evening with dinner and our milonga.
A highlight is the small but exquisite spa area with a Turkish bath, sauna and a spacious jacuzzi. The almost oversized, 40-metre-long swimming pool, surrounded by palm trees, also invites you to relax.
The old town of Matera is about a 20-minute walk from the hotel. Nearby is a railway station offering daytime train services between Bari and Matera. You can hear the trains as the station is within walking distance. (There are no trains at night).
Ballroom
The ballroom is situated in the hotel’s former granary. Spanning around 120 square metres, it features a beautiful stone floor perfect for dancing, as well as a bar offering drinks service.

Rooms The bright and spacious deluxe rooms are modern and comfortably furnished. At around 25 square metres, they offer plenty of space to relax and unwind. The bathrooms are spacious and elegantly fitted with marble. All rooms feature air conditioning, a safe, a minibar, bathrobes and an espresso machine.
Join us on the Bailando Discovery Tour
On this trip, we’ll explore Matera together. We’ve planned three ‘charming’ tours for you. These are included in the price of the trip.
- On a two-hour guided walking tour of the city, you’ll discover the fascinating old town with its Sassi, the famous cave dwellings and the churches carved into the rock.
- One afternoon and evening will be entirely dedicated to “Cuisine & Tango”: we’ll dance in a historic palazzo, enjoy a refreshing aperitif and then treat ourselves to delicacies from Basilicata at an excellent trattoria.
- An afternoon excursion takes us out into the countryside: as well as an enjoyable walk, you’ll visit a rustic agriturismo, where you can savour regional specialities and experience the warm hospitality of the South.

You should arrive in Matera by the afternoon.
Nearest airport: Bari (journey time approx. 60 minutes).
Check-in is available from 3.00 pm.
There are several bus services a day from Bari Airport to Matera. Alternatively, you can book an airport transfer from Bari to Matera through us. A hire car is not necessary for your stay in Matera, as the hotel is within walking distance of Matera’s old town.
Tip:
Extend your stay in Bari or explore the trulli villages in Apulia.

- Bari, the bustling and lively capital of Apulia, is well worth a visit.
- The picturesque Itria Valley is the perfect place to explore the trulli villages.
- The famous ‘Pane di Altamura’ bread can be sampled in numerous bakeries around Matera and Altamura.
- The impressive Staufer castle, ‘Castel del Monte’, can be visited as a day trip from Matera.
