Tango & Dolce Vita at a Castello in Emilia Romagna with Patricia & Matteo.
Once again this year, we invite you to join us for this special tango trip to the beautiful Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, led by Patricia Hilliges and Matteo Panero. An unforgettable tango holiday awaits you in this enchanting location, at the charming Borgo di Tabiano country hotel.
Patricia & Matteo will be teaching during this tango holiday. Their warm and professional teaching style will surely delight you. Evening milongas in the charming atmosphere of our hotel will complement this wonderful tango experience. We look forward to sharing the magic of tango with you in this beautiful location! Emilia-Romagna boasts a wealth of charming towns such as Parma, Cremona, and Reggio Emilia. This region is not overrun with tourists – this is what makes "Bella Italia" truly enjoyable! Our idyllic country hotel, nestled in a picturesque hilltop village between Salsomaggiore Terme and Parma, overlooks the Castello di Tabiano. In May, the landscape is ablaze with the vibrant red of countless poppies and the lush green of the cereal fields that stretch across the hills. This is the heart of Parmesan cheese, exquisite balsamic vinegar, and delicious Parma ham – all these culinary delights await you here. A true tango holiday to savor!
The Borgo di Tabiano is an idyllic country hotel located in the historic buildings of the village of Castello di Tabiano. Nestled in the hills of the Parma region and surrounded by oak forests and unspoiled nature, the property majestically overlooks the valley. Originally a fortress and an agricultural estate, the buildings were transformed into a charming and well-maintained rustic country hotel through a meticulous restoration. The charm of bygone times is still palpable. The guest rooms are located in various buildings throughout the grounds. The restaurant is situated in the historic buildings of the former dairy and cheese-making facility, where Parmesan cheese was produced. These rooms date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and have been lovingly restored. The kitchen places great emphasis on freshness and using local ingredients. Seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs come from the hotel's own garden. A varied breakfast buffet awaits you, featuring homemade cakes, jams, fresh fruit, muesli, and a selection of eggs, cold cuts, and cheeses. On four evenings, you can enjoy a fine dinner in the cozy restaurant or on the terrace. On one evening, we will experience the rustic cuisine of Emilia-Romagna at a nearby traditional trattoria. There will also be a barbecue evening at a nearby winery near Salsomaggiore, featuring a wine tasting and local appetizers, Parma ham, and grilled meats. You can relax in the hotel's spacious garden with its many seating areas. There is a swimming pool and a small wellness area with a sauna and massage facilities. The tango classes and milongas take place in the former stables of the estate. With over 150 square meters of space (a well-suited stone floor for dancing), there is ample room for our lively milongas.
Rooms:
The rooms are located in the former watchtowers of the estate and in the traditional stone and brick buildings. They have been carefully restored and are spread over three floors. Due to the historical architecture, no two rooms are alike, and there is no elevator. The buildings are located near our ballroom and restaurant.
All rooms feature a rustic, comfortable decor with antique furniture, matching upholstery, hand-painted ceramics, terracotta floors or decorated antique tiles, exposed wooden beams, or rustic stone walls. The rooms on the 3rd floor have sloping ceilings and built-in skylights.
Standard rooms offer approximately 20 square meters of space, while Superior rooms offer 25 square meters. The Deluxe rooms are particularly spacious, at approximately 35 square meters. Some of the Deluxe rooms have a particularly rustic atmosphere, featuring an antique bathtub in the room and a fireplace. They have a separate or open-plan living and sleeping area. In addition to the antique bathtubs as decorative elements, all rooms have a bathroom with a bathtub or shower/toilet, a minibar, and air conditioning.
NEW: We have also reserved some Superior rooms in the modern extension for you: These are located above the main building, about a 3-minute walk from the ballroom. These rooms are furnished in a contemporary style and have modern bathrooms. There is an elevator in this building. Additionally, there are comfortable suites, some with their own jacuzzi and terrace; prices upon request.
Arrival:
Arrival should be on Sunday, preferably in the afternoon. Check-in is possible from 3:00 PM.
Tip:
We recommend extending your stay in Tabiano or combining your tango trip with a visit to the nearby cities of Mantua, Bologna, or Modena. Or how about combining it with Milan, Lake Maggiore, or Lake Garda?

Tango with Patricia & Matteo:
Patricia Hilliges & Matteo Panero are based in Florence and have been teaching together since 1998.
They dance an elegant Tango de Salon, which they enrich with innovative elements - imaginative and musically appropriate. With a lot of wit, you teach even challenging content with a didactic experience.
A total of 5 x 1.5 hour lessons are planned for advanced dancers with Patricia & Matteo.
Patricia and Matteo both speak German and Italian.
The lessons and milongas take place in the premises of the property's former stables. In the evening we transform the hall into an atmospheric milonga. The hall is 150 square meters (stone floor) and air-conditioned.
