Come with us to Matera in Basilickata and experience an extraordinary journey full of Tango & Culture.
Get inspired in tango workshops with Fausto Carpino & Stephanie Fesneau. The theme of the week will be: The magic of the embrace.
In the evening we dance tango in the atmospheric ambience of our beautiful hotel.

Matera, one of the oldest cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019, combines historical charm and modernity. Once marked by poverty, the city now shines with palaces, churches and beautiful squares - the perfect place for an unforgettable stay. Famous for its ancient cave dwellings and churches built into the rock, you will find pure southern Italian "Dolce Vita" in Matera. The picturesque old town with numerous bars & cafes is only a 25-minute walk from our Tango Hotel.
The Tango lessons with Fausto & Stephanie take place in the morning or afternoon, so that there is still time for our small and fine sightseeing program. Let yourself be surprised: culinary or cultural or active with a hike in the historically interesting surroundings of Matera. We have planned three "charming" tours for you under the theme "Culture & Culinary". Details will follow in spring 2025, but those who know us know the diversity of our varied activities. The tours, like the tango lessons, are held in English. In the evening it's time for Milonga!

TIPP:
How about an extension? The Valle d'Itria in Apulia with its pretty trulli houses can be a nice combination.
There is also a lot to discover in the lively city of Bari.
Our tango trip is deliberately designed for 6 days so that you can individually plan your trip duration over the following weekend - either with more days to relax at the large pool of our hotel or with a further journey to Apulia by rental car.

Our Tango hotel:
The Alvino Relais Hotel is located on the outskirts of Matera. From the hotel you can walk to the old town in just 20 - 25 minutes to experience Matera's impressive historical backdrop.
Once a mill - because the area was important for growing grain - the hotel was converted into a uniquely modern hotel in 2019. Bright, lots of marble & glass, lots of space: a great combination of modern design and a chic ambience! There is a light-flooded bar where the fine breakfast buffet with savory & sweet dishes are served. In the afternoon and early evening you can enjoy a sparkling aperitif here before we start our dinner and milonga.
A special highlight that impressed us: the small & fine SPA with Turkish bath, sauna and a very large jacuzzi! There is also an almost oversized, 40-meter-long swimming pool surrounded by palm trees. Here you can enjoy the late summer sunshine of southern Italy in October, with temperatures that are certainly still pleasant.
Our "Tango Lounge" is located in the former granary: our Milongas and courses with Fausto & Stephanie will take place on an area of ​​120 square meters with a stone floor that is perfect for dancing.
Rooms:
The deluxe rooms are bright, spacious and comfortably designed in a modern style to make you feel good. They are around 25 square meters in size and of course have a minibar, air conditioning and safe as well as a spacious modern bathroom.
From the hotel you can walk to the old town of Matera in just 20 - 25 minutes.
There is free parking at the hotel if you arrive by rental car.
The train station for the train connection between Matera and Bari is nearby. Note: There is a train connection between Bari & Matera every hour from around 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Since the train station is within walking distance and there is no soundproofing, you can hear the train. Since we are "active" this week anyway, we think this is acceptable, especially because it is quiet at night.

Arrival:
You can travel to Brindisi or Bari. Matera is about 60 km from Bari.
There is a bus connection between Bari airport and Matera up to 6 times a day for those who do not want to rent a car. In addition, an airport transfer can be booked through us from Bari airport to Matera. A rental car is not necessary for Matera, unless you want to extend your vacation for a few days around Matera or in Apulia.
