Emilia Romagna offers a wealth of enchanting cities such as Parma, Cremona, and Reggio Emilia. This region is not overrun with tourists: this is what makes Bella Italia so enjoyable! Our idyllic country hotel sits majestically next to the Castello di Tabiano, a fortified village nestled in a picturesque hilly landscape between Salsomaggiore Terme and Parma. In May, the landscape is ablaze with the vibrant reds of countless poppies and the lush green of the grain fields that stretch across the hills. Here you are in the home of Parmesan cheese, delicious balsamic vinegar, and delicate Parma ham – all these delights await you. A truly indulgent tango holiday!

Borgo di Tabiano is an idyllic country hotel located in the historic buildings of Castello di Tabiano, the village of the same name. Nestled in the hills of the province of Parma and surrounded by oak forests and unspoiled nature, the estate majestically overlooks the valley. Originally a fortress and a working farm, the buildings have been meticulously restored into a charming, rustic country hotel. The hotel still retains the charm of a bygone era. Guest rooms are spread across the grounds in various wings. The restaurant is housed in the historic buildings of the former dairy and cheese factory, where Parmesan cheese was once produced. These premises date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and have been lovingly restored. The kitchen places great emphasis on fresh, regional ingredients. Seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs come from the hotel's own orchard and vegetable garden. At breakfast, a varied buffet awaits you with homemade cakes, jams, fresh fruit, muesli, and a selection of eggs, cold cuts, and cheeses. On four evenings, you can enjoy a delicious set menu in the cozy dining rooms or on the terrace. One evening, we will experience the rustic regional cuisine of Emilia-Romagna at a neighboring osteria. A barbecue evening awaits you at a nearby winery near Salsomaggiore, featuring a wine tasting and local antipasti, Parma ham, and grilled meats.

You can relax in the hotel's spacious garden with plenty of seating. There is a swimming pool and a small wellness area with a sauna and massage facilities.

The tango classes and milongas take place in the former stables of the estate. With over 150 square meters of space (a comfortable stone floor), there is ample room for our lively milongas.

Rooms:
The rooms are located in the estate's former watchtowers and in the rustic stone and brick buildings. They have been carefully restored and are spread over three floors. Due to the historic construction, no two rooms are alike, and there is no elevator. The buildings are located near our ballroom and restaurant.

All rooms feature a rustic and cozy décor with antique furniture, matching upholstery, hand-painted ceramics, terracotta floors or decorated antique tiles, wooden beams, or rustic stone walls. The rooms on the third floor have sloping ceilings and built-in skylights.

The standard rooms offer approximately 20 square meters of space, while the superior rooms offer 25 square meters. The deluxe rooms are particularly spacious at approximately 35 square meters. Some of the deluxe rooms exude a special flair and a rustic atmosphere, featuring antique bathtubs and fireplaces. Some rooms have a separate or open-plan living and sleeping area. All Deluxe Rooms feature antique bathtubs as decorative elements, a bathroom with a bathtub or shower/toilet, a minibar, and air conditioning.

NEW: We have also reserved a few Superior Rooms for you in the modern annex. These are located above the main building, approximately a 3-minute walk from the ballroom. These rooms are furnished in a contemporary style and feature modern bathrooms. An elevator is available in this building. Comfortable suites are also available, some with a private Jacuzzi and terrace. Prices are available upon request.

Arrival:
Please arrive on Sunday afternoon. Check-in is available from 3:00 PM.

Tip:
We recommend extending your stay with a visit to the nearby cities of Mantua, Bologna, or Milan. Of course, you can also extend your stay in Tabiano to relax in the peaceful surroundings.

Tango with Patricia & Matteo:

Patricia Hilliges & Matteo Panero are based in Florence and have been teaching together since 1998. They dance an elegant Tango de Salon, which they enrich with innovative elements – imaginative and musically appropriate. They teach even challenging material with pedagogical expertise and a great deal of humor.

The course includes five 1.5-hour lessons with a Practica (practica) with Patricia and Matteo. This trip focuses on the Milonga: We will playfully and easily discover step variations that bring fun and joy to our dancing. Three days of instruction will include advanced lessons, and the remaining workshops will cover the basics of the embrace.

Patricia and Matteo both speak German and Italian.

The lessons and Milongas will take place in the former stables of the estate. In the evenings, we will transform the hall into an atmospheric Milonga. The hall is 150 square meters (stone floor) and air-conditioned.
