Aug 28th - Sept 3rd, 2023: Tango Holiday in Styria/Austria

Welcome to the "Garden of Austria" - in beautiful Styria.
In the summer of 2023 we will again be offering Styria - at a great time of the year: in August the landscape shines in the rich, sunny yellow of the pumpkins for which Styria is so famous. Harvest time is approaching and the pumpkins in the fields are turning golden yellow. In addition, a large number of fantastic excursion destinations invite you to explore the area. Or you can relax in the beautiful natural swimming pond in a beach chair and enjoy the summer in the pretty garden of our charming hotel.
We are very happy that Patricia Hilliges & Matteo Panero from Florence will be teaching again. The perfect tango summer vacation in Austria awaits us. Patricia and Matteo dance an elegant Tango de Salon, which they enrich with innovative elements - imaginative and musically appropriate. Her lessons are humorous and yet have a lot of depth. You learn many tricks for better technique and thereby gain expression and stability. Tango & Milonga are taught on this trip. This gives you the opportunity to learn tips and tricks from the professionals on how to dance the milonga with exhilaration and joy.
The courses with Patricia & Matteo take place either in the morning or in the afternoon, so that there is also time for excursions into the wonderful surroundings. In the evening we dance in the beautiful hall with parquet floor. By the way: the hall can be air-conditioned, so you can dance both day and night at pleasant temperatures.
Our hotel is located in St. Ruprecht an der Raab, just 30 minutes from the beautiful city of Graz and in the heart of Eastern Styria. Cosmopolitan flair can be found in Graz when strolling through the old town, which was shaped by Italian builders of the Renaissance. Eastern Styria is a landscape full of harmony and quiet beauties. Everywhere taverns, country inns and wineries invite you to linger and offer regional products to enjoy. There are many excursion options, e.g. in the Almenland nature park, in the hilly volcanic country with the Riegersburg Castle or on the southern Styrian wine route, which is worth the trip in itself. You can explore the nearby apple road with the e-bike and the Raabtalklamm provides an adrenaline rush for hikers, as it is the longest gorge in Austria! The trip price includes the “Steiermark Genusscard”, a free entry ticket to many excursion destinations.

Enjoyment & relaxation is the order of the day in our Tango Hotel: In the “Gartenhotel Ochensberger” we can relax and recharge our batteries: in the spacious garden there are many lovingly designed terraces and relaxation areas, as well as a large natural swimming pond. It's just fun to jump in in the morning and swim a few laps in the refreshing water. Wellness is the name of the game in the more than 1000 square meter vital area "Steierness". Culinary discoveries are possible at any time during the day in the à la carte restaurant or in the cozy wine bar lounge.
We start the day with a hearty breakfast - also on the beautiful terrace. A buffet awaits us with fresh fruits, mueslis, fine egg dishes, a large selection of sausages and cheeses, cakes and regional Styrian breads. The famous Styrian pumpkin seeds are of course used in all variations. In the evening a three-course menu with a salad buffet awaits us. Of course, there is also a vegetarian selection available.
After dinner, our milonga starts in the hotel rooms: our hall with an area of ​​140 sqm and parquet floor offers enough space for tango lessons and milongas. By the way: The hall can be air-conditioned and thus offers a very pleasant room climate, both during the day for the courses and in the evening for the milonga.
There are various room categories to choose from.
The standard rooms "Raabtal" are approx. 20 square meters and are furnished with natural oak furniture. The sleeping area with indirect daylight is spatially separated from a small, cozy living area. The closet / cloakroom area is rather tight. The bathroom is modern and open with glass elements. The Raab valley rooms are located directly above the tango room on the same level as the spacious wellness area, which can therefore be reached quickly. The view from the Raab Tal rooms is limited to a small inner courtyard.
The “Genießer” superior rooms are more spacious as they have a larger bathroom and a larger sleeping area. They are located in the extension and are connected to the wellness area and the main house via a direct transition.
The "nature rooms" are approx. 26 square meters and are very stylishly furnished in the French country house style with parquet flooring. You either have a balcony or a terrace with beautiful garden furniture and a view of the apple orchard.

Arrival and departure:
You should arrive on Monday = August 28, 2023 by 6:00 p.m. The courses start on Tuesday and end on Saturday. There are no more courses on Sunday, so you can start your return journey or an extension after breakfast.
The rooms are booked from Monday to Sunday and will be allocated by the hotel after the booking has been received.
Additional nights can be reserved through Bailando Reisen. We definitely recommend spending a few more days here in the beautiful garden hotel, as there are many interesting day trips to beautiful Styria. An extension with a tango weekend in Vienna or a stay at a vineyard in southern Styria is also an option.

Arrival to St. Ruprecht at the river Raab:
St. Ruprecht at the river Raab is approx. 30 minutes by car from Graz. Graz can be reached via the A9 from Salzburg or the A2 from Vienna.
Graz Airport is connected daily with most airports by NONSTOP flight, e.g. Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Zurich. At Graz Airport there are car rentals from Hertz, Sixt, Avis and Europcar.
It is possible to travel to Graz by car train from some train stations in Switzerland.
The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the St. Ruprecht train station. There is an hourly bus / train connection to the city of Graz.
