In the wonderful month of May we invite you for the first time to our tango trip with Patricia Hilliges and Matteo Panero to the beautiful Emilia Romagna in Italy. You can expect not only the finest Milongas & Tango lessons with Patricia & Matteo, but also wonderful excursion opportunities to a region that is known for its culinary treasures. Think of the spicy Parmesan cheese, the delicious balsamic vinegar and the delicate Parma ham - all these delights await you here. But that's not all! Emilia Romagna also offers a wealth of enchanting cities such as Parma, Cremona and Reggio Emilia for you to explore. Our idyllic country hotel near Tabiano sits majestically in a picturesque hilly landscape between Salsomaggiore Terme and Parma. In May, the landscape shines with the colorful red tones of numerous poppies and the lush green of the grain fields that stretch across the hills.
Patricia Hilliges and Matteo Panero offer tango lessons in two groups for advanced dancers on this trip. Her warm and professional style of teaching will inspire you. Antico Borgo is a charming hotel set in the historic buildings of the fortified town of Tabiano Castello. Nestled in the hills of the province of Parma and surrounded by oak forests and untouched nature, it towers majestically above the plain. Originally a fortress and an agricultural operation, the hotel now exudes the flair of a well-kept country hotel. The restoration of the property has preserved the authenticity and fascination of this place. There is also enjoyment in the culinary delights:
The restaurant is located in the historic buildings of the old dairy and cheese factory, where the famous Parmesan cheese has been produced for over 200 years. The rooms date from the 18th and 19th centuries. You can still feel the charm of old times when you enter the beautiful, bright rooms. In the kitchen, great emphasis is placed on freshness and regionality. Seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs come from our own fruit and vegetable garden. At breakfast you can expect a varied buffet with homemade cakes, jams, fresh fruit, muesli, as well as a selection of eggs, sausage and cheese. On four evenings you can enjoy a fine menu in the cozy rooms or on the terrace. One evening we experience the regional rustic cuisine of Emilia Romagna in a neighboring osteria. You can also expect an evening at a nearby winery near Salsomaggiore with a wine tasting and local antipasti, Parma ham and cheese.
You can relax in the hotel's spacious garden with seating. There is a swimming pool and a small wellness area with a sauna and massage options. The swimming pool is open from the beginning of May, weather permitting.
The tango courses and milongas take place in the former stables of the property. On an area of over 150 square meters (stone floor), there is enough space under medieval arches to dance the tango.

The rooms are located in the property's former watchtowers and in the rural stone and brick houses. They have been carefully restored and are spread over three floors. Due to the historical construction, no two rooms are alike. The buildings are close to our dance hall and restaurant.
In all rooms you can expect a rustic, cozy interior with antique furniture, matching upholstery, hand-painted ceramics, terracotta floors or decorated antique tiles, wooden beams or rustic stone walls. The rooms on the 3rd floor have a sloping ceiling and built-in bright skylights.
The standard rooms offer approximately 20 square meters of space, while the superior rooms offer 25 square meters of space. The deluxe rooms are particularly spacious with around 35 square meters. Some of the deluxe rooms have a particularly rustic atmosphere, with an antique bathtub in the room and a fireplace. They have a separate or open living and sleeping area. All rooms have – in addition to the antique bathtubs as room decoration – a bathroom with bathtub or shower/toilet as well as a minibar and air conditioning.
Please note that due to the historic construction of the building there is no elevator.

Getting there:
Arrival should take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 by the afternoon. Room check-in is possible from 3:00 p.m.

We recommend that you extend your stay in Tabiano or extend your tango trip with a visit to the nearby cities of Mantua, Bologna or Modena. Or how about a combination with  Milan or Lake Garda?
